This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") supplements the JobsU Terms of Service and describes the rules and standards of conduct that apply to all users of the JobsU platform. By using JobsU, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination at JobsU's sole discretion.
1. General Principles
JobsU is a marketplace built on trust between neighbors and students. Every user is expected to treat others with respect, communicate honestly, and act in good faith. The rules below exist to maintain a safe, fair, and reliable platform for everyone.
2. Account Integrity
Users must:
- Provide truthful and accurate information in their profile, job postings, and communications
- Maintain only one account per person. Creating multiple accounts, sharing accounts, or transferring accounts is prohibited
- Use a valid .edu email address that belongs to them (Students) or a valid personal email address (Residents)
- Keep account credentials confidential and not allow any other person to access or use their account
- Promptly update account information if it changes, including contact details, university affiliation, and enrollment status
3. Prohibited Content
Users may not post, transmit, or share content that:
- Is false, misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent
- Misrepresents qualifications, certifications, experience, identity, or affiliation
- Contains threats, harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory language based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, disability, or any other protected characteristic
- Is sexually explicit, obscene, or pornographic
- Promotes or glorifies violence, self-harm, or illegal activity
- Contains personal contact information shared for the purpose of circumventing platform fees or off-platform transactions
- Infringes on the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party
- Contains malware, viruses, spam, or any harmful or disruptive code or content
- Impersonates another person, entity, or brand
4. Prohibited Conduct
Users may not:
- Arrange, solicit, or accept payment outside the JobsU platform (see Terms of Service, Section 12)
- Post or accept jobs in any prohibited category (see Terms of Service, Section 5)
- Discriminate against other users on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic when posting, accepting, or performing jobs
- Engage in any form of harassment, intimidation, stalking, or unwanted contact, whether on-platform or off-platform in connection with a JobsU interaction
- Use the platform to facilitate any illegal activity, including but not limited to drug sales, theft, fraud, or solicitation of illegal services
- Manipulate ratings and reviews, including leaving fake reviews, incentivizing positive reviews, or retaliating against a user for leaving an honest review
- Collect, scrape, harvest, or store personal information of other users for any purpose not authorized by JobsU
- Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or scripts to access, interact with, or extract data from the platform without JobsU's prior written consent
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform, other users' accounts, or JobsU's systems or infrastructure
- Interfere with or disrupt the platform, its servers, or the networks connected to it
- Use information obtained through JobsU to contact users outside the platform for service arrangements, solicitation, or any commercial purpose
5. Communication Standards
All communications through the JobsU platform — including in-app messages, job descriptions, and reviews — should be professional and respectful in tone, relevant to the job or service being discussed, free from spam or unsolicited advertising, and free from personal contact information shared for the purpose of circumventing the platform.
JobsU reserves the right to monitor communications conducted through the platform for compliance with this policy and to protect the safety of our users. Communications may be reviewed in connection with trust and safety investigations, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
6. Job Posting Standards
All job postings must:
- Accurately describe the work to be performed, including the type, scope, location, and expected duration
- Offer compensation at or above the applicable minimum wage
- Not include prohibited job types as described in the Terms of Service, Section 5
- Not contain misleading, discriminatory, or deceptive descriptions of the work, compensation, or working conditions
- Not require Service Providers to perform work that is materially different from what was described in the posting
7. In-Person Safety and Conduct
Because JobsU facilitates connections that may involve in-person interactions in private homes and other settings, all users are expected to:
- Treat the property, belongings, and privacy of other users with care and respect
- Not use, consume, or be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances while performing or receiving services through the platform
- Immediately report any unsafe situation, injury, property damage, or emergency to the appropriate authorities and to JobsU at support@jobsu.app
- Respect boundaries and personal space. Any sexual harassment, unwanted physical contact, or inappropriate behavior will result in immediate and permanent account termination
8. Reporting Violations
If you believe another user has violated this Acceptable Use Policy or the Terms of Service, please report the incident through the in-app reporting tools or by contacting us at support@jobsu.app. Please include as much detail as possible, including the user involved, a description of the incident, and any supporting evidence.
All reports are reviewed by JobsU and handled in accordance with our internal policies. Reports are treated confidentially to the extent possible, though we may need to share relevant information with law enforcement or other parties as required by law.
9. Enforcement
JobsU may take any of the following actions in response to a violation of this policy, depending on the severity, frequency, and nature of the violation:
- Issuing a warning to the user
- Removing or disabling content that violates this policy
- Temporarily suspending a user's account
- Permanently terminating a user's account
- Withholding or forfeiting pending payments
- Reporting the user's conduct to law enforcement or other authorities
- Pursuing legal remedies as permitted by the Terms of Service
JobsU reserves the right to take enforcement action at its sole discretion, with or without prior notice. Certain violations — including those involving physical safety, sexual harassment, fraud, illegal activity, or off-platform payment circumvention — will result in immediate and permanent account termination without warning.
10. Relationship to Terms of Service
This Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into and forms part of the JobsU Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between this AUP and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall control. Capitalized terms not defined in this AUP have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Service.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy with a new effective date and notify users where practicable. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date of any revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
